Project case study » The Majestic

A former nightclub, bingo hall, and dance venue but originally built as a cinema, the Majestic occupies a significant position in the townscape of Leeds but has been vacant since June 2006.  The brief called for a change of use to potential retail, bar, restaurant and leisure uses with a nightclub/ music venue in the basement.  The proposals introduce active frontages to Wellington Street and Quebec Street and maximise the lettable areas within the restrictions of the existing listed building.

The Majestic has seen significant local interest ahead of its start on site.  It has been featured in the local and national press and in construction industry publications.  The recent marketing of the scheme by the client has shown great interest from prospective tenants.  The scheme has won generous praise from both the local authority and the civic trust.
