Project case study » Rudding Park Fine Dining Restaurant

Further to the expansion of the guest room provision at Rudding Park, the client decided that a further dining provision was required to complement the existing facilities and to provide additional choice and experience for guests.

A new extension to the hotel complex, the scheme called for a 40 cover Fine Dining restaurant which maximised natural daylight whilst avoiding solar gain due to its southern exposure.  The extension was modelled in 3d and amended to provide comparable design options for the client, and subsequently the planners and English Heritage to consider.  Through modelling we were able to prove that the new extension would have no effect on the Georgian Mansion as it was located behind the existing buildings on either side.  The preferred option was sympathetic with the existing architecture whilst providing a contemporary feel inside through the use of large roof lights and a stepped ceiling line.

The new building is single story extension with a gross floor area of new accommodation of 123sq.m
